The 2020–21 men's college basketball season was one of perseverance, as teams navigated COVID-19 protocols, limited fan attendance, and scheduling challenges. Despite the adversity, the season delivered unforgettable moments, culminating in Baylor’s dominant national championship victory over previously undefeated Gonzaga. The Bears, led by Jared Butler, Davion Mitchell, and MaCio Teague, overwhelmed Gonzaga in the title game, securing the program’s first-ever NCAA championship. Gonzaga, led by Jalen Suggs and Drew Timme, seemed poised for perfection, especially after Suggs’ iconic half-court buzzer-beater against UCLA in the Final Four, but Baylor’s physicality and relentless defense proved too much. Iowa’s Luka Garza claimed Consensus National Player of the Year honors after a remarkable senior season. The tournament also saw UCLA make a stunning Cinderella run from the First Four to the Final Four, adding to the excitement of a season that, despite its challenges, ended with a historic championship performance.
