The 2022–23 men's college basketball season was marked by surprises, dominant performances, and a historic NCAA Tournament. The UConn Huskies emerged as national champions, winning their fifth title in program history with a dominant run through March Madness, culminating in a victory over San Diego State in the championship game. Purdue’s Zach Edey was the consensus National Player of the Year after an outstanding season, leading the Boilermakers to a No. 1 seed, though they were shockingly upset by No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round. The tournament also saw Florida Atlantic make a Cinderella run to the Final Four, while Miami and San Diego State reached the national semifinals for the first time. Houston and Alabama spent much of the regular season atop the rankings, but neither team made it past the Elite Eight. UConn’s dominant performance in the tournament cemented their status as one of the sport’s elite programs
