2023-24 SEASON - COLLEGE ROSTERS
The 2023–24 men’s college basketball season delivered intense competition, breakout talent, and a tournament run for the ages. The UConn Huskies successfully defended their crown, capturing their sixth national title and becoming the first men’s team in nearly two decades to repeat. In the title game, UConn defeated Purdue 75–60 behind a stellar performance from Tristen Newton, who was named Most Outstanding Player. Purdue’s Zach Edey continued to dominate through the season, earning consensus National Player of the Year honors for the second straight year. The Boilermakers, seeded No. 1, were widely expected to challenge for a title, and they made a strong run before UConn proved too formidable in the end. UConn’s tournament run was emphatic — they won all six of their games by double digits, totaling a margin of victory larger than any previous champion. The tournament still produced surprises and deep runs. While many expected upsets and Cinderella stories, UConn’s dominance often shut the door early. Outside of the Huskies and Purdue, marquee programs such as Houston and Arizona had strong regular seasons but were unable to break through in March. UConn’s back-to-back titles cemented their place as the defining program of this era — and Dan Hurley’s coaching stock only rose further.
