The 2019–20 men's college basketball season was one of the most unprecedented in history, as it was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With conference tournaments underway and March Madness approaching, the NCAA made the difficult decision to cancel the NCAA Tournament, leaving the season without a national champion for the first time. Kansas finished as the AP No. 1 team, led by star point guard Devon Dotson and dominant big man Udoka Azubuike. Dayton, powered by National Player of the Year Obi Toppin, had a historic season and was poised for a deep tournament run. Other top teams like Gonzaga and Baylor also had strong championship aspirations. Unfortunately, with no tournament to determine a winner, the season ended abruptly, leaving fans and players with a lingering sense of "what could have been."
